Salzbrenner of Lakers-Black Heads to D2 Le Moyne in Syracuse!

Lauren Salzbrenner of the Wisconsin Lakers-Black National Travel Team is going to play with Dolphins, but not in Orlando or Miami.  Lauren has verbally agreed to attend school and play NCAA D2 basketball for the Le Moyne College Dolphins in Syracuse, New York!

Salzbrenner, senior at Sheboygan North HS, excels at both ends of the floor.  She is a proficient scorer, both off the drive and from three-point range.

Lauren is a talented individual player, but her qualities as a leader and teammate set her apart from other players. Her unselfishness and ability to "play the game" made her Lakers-Black team better.  Her on-court qualities carry over off the court, as well.

While we only had Lauren for one year, she made a major impact on her Lakers-Black team and our program, in general.  Congratulations, Lauren! You will be great at the next level!

D2 Northern Michigan Receives Commitment from Anna Liewen

After a campus visit on a beautiful October weekend, Anna Liewen of the Wisconsin Lakers - White National Travel Team committed to play basketball at the NCAA D2 level for Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan.

The newest Wildcat recruit was the leading scorer for Brookfield Central HS as a junior.  Anna will return to play her senior year at Central before leaving for NMU.

An athletic left-hander, Anna has the ability to overpower defenders on her way to the basket.  She also displays a very nice outside jumper.

Anna is coming off a successful USJN NCAA Exposure Event on October 7-8, 2011 where she was voted to the tournament all star team.

Great job, Anna!  Your Laker Family is proud of you!

Kim Albrecht  Verbals

D1 Binghamton

Congratulations to Kim Albrecht of the Wisconsin Lakers - Black National Travel Team on her verbal agreement to attend and play basketball at NCAA D1 Binghamton University of the America East Conference.

The Deerfield native was a high-performer on the Lakers - Black team.  The Lakers - Black won their national-level pools at USJN NCAA exposure events in Kansas City and Chicago, and squared off against the Lakers - White team in the championship finals of two other events.

Binghamton finished with a conference record of 11-5 in 2010-11, good for third in the America East.  The Bearcats will add a talented scoring guard with demonstrated ability to play at a consistently high level, regardless of the quality of competition.

Great job, Kim!  We are proud of you!

Kristi Elles to WIAC's

River Falls

Congratulations to Kristi Elles of Oconomowoc and Lake Mills High School on her decision to attend and play basketball at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls.  Despite offers to play at the NCAA Division II level, Kristi chose to stay in-state to play for the Falcons.

Kristi is the longest-tenured player in Lakers history, having played 10 seasons, the last three as a point guard for the Wisconsin Lakers - White National Travel Team.  The Lakers are pleased to announce that Kristi's tenure, determination, and playmaking ability for the Lakers  has earned her a spot in the Wisconsin Lakers Hall of Fame.

Kendall Martenet  Goes to D1

 University of New Hampshire

Congratulations to Kendall Martenet of the Wisconsin Lakers - White National Travel Team for accepting an offer to attend and play NCAA D1 basketball for the University of New Hampshire.

Despite scheduled visits to other schools, Kendall fell in love with the school and decided to make UNH her first and last visit.

One of the most physical players to ever put on a Laker uniform, Kendall is a very good defender and an aggressive offensive rebounder.

New Hampshire, an NCAA Division 1 school, participates in the America East Conference.

Congratulations, Kendall!

Julia Shelbourn

Verbals D1 Nevada

The Wisconsin Lakers congratulate Julia Shelbourn, 6'3" forward from Whitewater, for verbally accepting an offer to play college basketball and attend college at D1 Nevada.

Nevada just completed a 22-win season, and will be moving to the highly competitive Mountain West Conference.

Shelbourn is excited to play for the Wolf Pack and Coach Jane Albright: "I really love the campus, facilities, staff, and players. Coach Albright has assembled a great basketball team and coaching staff that will be very successful in the Mountain West Conference, and I am thrilled to be asked to contribute to that success."

Julia has been an outstanding addition to the Laker program.  No player in the history of the Lakers has worked harder to make herself and her team better.  On and off the court, Julia represents everything we want a Wisconsin Lakers player to be.

We are proud to announce Julia has earned a spot in the Wisconsin Lakers Hall of Fame.

Congratulations on your hard-earned success, Julia!
